August greetings to our authors,
We pray that you are all keeping safe and well during these difficult times of COVID-19. Warner House Press continues to be busy, with multiple projects recently completed and others just getting underway. This month we welcome two new authors to the Warner House Press family, Bonnie L. Ferguson and Faye Braley.
Bonnie L. Ferguson
We are excited to announce the upcoming release of Mabel & Erda, our first children’s book!
Mabel Louise is an exceptional young lady and skilled adventurer. One day, she runs into something really unexpected: A Sasquatch! But Mabel's kind heart leads the two unlikely girls to become friends. This colorful, heart-warming tale, told and illustrated by Bonnie L. Ferguson, captures a spirit of adventure and friendship that is suitable for all ages.
Bonnie lives in the Piney Wood country of North Louisiana, where she spends most of her days playing outside, swimming, foraging for berries or looking for forest beasts with her son. Before becoming semi feral, she attended Louisiana Tech University where she studied art and art history. She can be found in civilization teaching art at a rural private school. Mabel & Erda is her first book.
Mabel & Erda will be released on September 4th. Pre-order now at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Mabel-Erda-Louise-Friends-Squatch/dp/1951890086/
Faye L. Braley
We are proud to publish the work of Faye L. Braley, distinguished Christian childhood educator and missionary, and a charter member of the Northern Arizona chapter of Word Weavers International. ...God Was Here (Too)... will put a smile in your heart. While a young child learns about God and nature, and expresses his own opinions, his grandmother learns what it means to have a childlike faith.
Due to release on September 7th, ...God Was Here (Too)... is available for pre-order via Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/1951890094/
Royalties
Royalty payments will next be made on 1 October. If you have not arranged for ACH payment services and wish to do so, please contact me directly.
Monthly Reports
Starting August 1st, Warner House Press is sending out a monthly report to each author detailing sales of their books through all channels to date (except of course, author sales!). Note that, for IngramSpark, funds will not be sent to us until 90 days after the end of the month in which sales occur and so may not be paid in the same quarter they are reported. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
IngramSpark Print Delays - Variable
We have been working closely with IngramSpark to track shipments. Unfortunately, the wait times remain widely variable. If you need copies, please get your order in as soon as possible.
Bulk Orders
We are always open to bulk order discounts. If you have suggestions, please contact me directly for quotes and approximate revenue shares at the bulk rates.
Website Development/Technology Assistance
We continue to receive quite a bit of work in this area. Please continue letting others know that we offer this service at competitive rates. Special thanks to Patti and Anthony of Hub for Podcasting, who have been superb partners with WHP. Please check out their website and podcasts. We highly recommend them!
Prayer Requests
Please let us know if you have any prayer requests. The Lord has impressed upon me to pray for the Uighur Muslims in China, who are experiencing genocidal conditions.
Telegram for our Authors (Repost)
Since we began planning Warner House Press in early 2019, Robert and I have used a communication tool called Slack to brainstorm ideas, keep track of tasks, and document research. Over the past few weeks, we've evaluated an alternative that lets us do all this, as well as communicate with our authors and partners, and the general public. Telegram is a highly secure messaging application. It is very easy to use and available on most every platform, including Android and iOS phones. The only requirement for an account is a mobile phone number. It is completely free, and very configurable. We have set up several Telegram channels, including private channels for each book we have published. As events related to each book transpire, we make a notation in its channel. We also have a private channel dedicated to communicating with all our authors. Private channels are by invitation only. If you wish to have access to your book's channel(s) or the "all authors" channel, please contact me directly. It is the quickest way to get your questions answered and communicate with us directly. Public Channels from Warner House Press are also available and can be joined by anyone:
Warner House Press: https://t.me/WarnerHousePress
Waiting for the Train: https://t.me/WaitingForTheTrain
Telegram is used for secure communications in places like Iran and Hong Kong, and has successfully rebuffed attempts by Russia to gain access to user information. Our desire is to use it to communicate effectively with our authors and inform the general public regarding our author's works.
Please let me know if you need any assistance in setting up Telegram.
Dave’s Closing Thought
Recent events have re-ignited my youthful interest in the fight against censorship. With the advent of decentralized technology such as blockchain and the above mentioned Telegram, there is a great opportunity for freedom of expression. We need a twentieth-first century movement against censorship, similar to that ignited by the small magazine Index on Censorship where I first learned of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and the idea of self-publishing, known in Russian as samizdat. What was once done on mimeograph machines and hidden typewriters, can now be transmitted and stored around the world at a keystroke.
